MLB Advanced Media, L.P. (MLBAM) is the interactive media and Internet Company of Major League Baseball. MLBAM manages the official league site, each of the 30 Club sites, Minor League Baseball Sites, and Player sites thereby creating the most comprehensive Major League Baseball resource on the Internet. We are currently seeking (4) freelance Data Center Wiring Specialist’s to work at the local office in New York City. Freelance work will be needed from January 27, 2010 to April 2010. Opportunities to advance to a full-time position are available. Positions are available immediately.
Principal Duties:
o Read and interpret technical drawings for audio, video, power and network infrastructure.
o Implement work orders from Data Center Manager.
o Perform installation work including racking of servers, and termination of various connections (e.g. network, power, audio and video).
o Dress and label all cables in an organized manner.
o Be responsible for ensuring all cabling is fully tested and documented.
o Update spreadsheets and databases for all cables and systems installs
o Maintain the data center as a clean and organized environment.
Requirements:
o Absolute attention to clean and accurate work in a live environment.
o Must be able to work in a 24/7 environment including nights and weekends.
o Ability to lift 50+lbs. to rack servers and other systems
o Experience with soldering and terminating:
o Coax – BNC, RF, F-connectors
o XLR, ¼”, 1/8”, RCA
o RJ45 Cat5/Cat6
o RJ11
o DB9/25
o Experience working in production data centers.
o Knowledge of cable infrastructure testing equipment
o Basic PC and/or Mac skills. Familiarity with spreadsheets and databases.
o Experience with Triax, Fiber termination and circuit board soldering a plus, but not required.
